Ben Saper quit his high paying, soul draining NYC corporate law job and moved to New Orleans to work as an immigration attorney for a fraction of the pay. He began investing in real estate with the ultimate goal of being able to work full time pro bono representing asylum seekers. Things were going well until the entire short term rental market hit a brick wall in March and Ben was left with mortgage payments due and no renters.

Ben shares how he began renting his properties to a charity that houses recent released convicts, had to pause renovations, and the friendship he made with a squatter named Sammy who became the informal security guard at Ben's paused construction site.
